Former Beauty Queen Booted From White House Religious Liberty Panel After ‘Hijacking’ Antisemitism Hearing

The Trump administration has removed conservative commentator Carrie Prejean Boller from the White House Religious Liberties Commission following her confrontational performance during an antisemitism hearing earlier this week.Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, the commission’s chairman, announced Ms. Boller’s dismissal on X. “No member of the Commission has the right to hijack a hearing for their own personal and political agenda on any issue,” he wrote. “This is clearly, without question, what happened Monday in our hearing on antisemitism in America. This was my decision.”The 38-year-old beauty queen and author has not yet directly addressed Mr. Patrick’s statement, though she reshared a post from antisemitic conspiracy theorist Candace Owens. “Carrie didn’t hijack anything,” Ms. Owens wrote. “Zionists are naturally hostile to Catholics because we refuse to bend the knee to revisionist history and support the mass slaughter and rape of innocent children for occult Baal worshipers.” Ms. Boller faced intense backlash this week after adopting a hostile posture toward a number of Jewish Americans called to testify about antisemitism for the hearing. The hearings are meant to aid the commission in advising the administration on promoting religious liberty. Wearing a Palestinian flag pin, Ms. Boller repeatedly challenged witnesses’ accounts, accusing them of employing an overly broad definition of antisemitism. She defended both Ms. Owens and commentator Tucker Carlson, arguing they are critics of Zionism rather than antisemites. Ms. Owens regularly promotes conspiracy theories about Jews on her podcast show and Mr. Carlson has platformed several Holocaust deniers, including self-avowed antisemite Nick Fuentes. About an hour and a half into the hearing, Ms. Boller disclosed that she had tallied the number of times Israel was mentioned in the discussion. “Since we’ve mentioned Israel a total of 17 times, are you willing to condemn what Israel has done in Gaza?” Ms. Boller asked Jewish advocate Shabbos Kestenbaum. “You won’t condemn that? Just on the record.”Ms. Boller went on to share her own positions on Israel, stating that “Catholics do not embrace Zionism,” before asking the panel, “If I don’t support the political state of Israel, am I an antisemite, yes or no?” She also asked them whether they would consider her an antisemite because she believes Jews killed Jesus.Ms. Boller’s appearance prompted prominent figures on the right — both Jewish and non-Jewish — to call for the Trump administration to remove her from her post. She responded defiantly, pledging to “continue to stand against Zionist supremacy in America.”
