Trump Believes Iranian War Talks Are Going Well, Extends Deadline to April 6

So, after today’s Cabinet meeting and intense discussions with envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, as well as Vice President Vance, President Trump decided that the talks are going well enough so he’s going to extend Friday’s deadline to a week from Monday, which will be April 6 at 8 P.M. “As per Iranian Government request,” Mr. Trump said, “please let this statement serve to represent that I am pausing the period of Energy Plant destruction by 10 Days to Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 P.M., Eastern Time.” He added that “talks are ongoing and, despite erroneous statements to the contrary by the Fake News Media, and others, they are going very well.”The president has made it clear that if there is no deal, then the Pentagon will be striking what will probably amount to the final blow in this war.Yesterday the White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, said the president is ready to unleash hell if no deal is reached.The War Department is moving 1,000 paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne into the Persian Gulf Theatre. Also deployed were a few thousand Marines and sailors assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and its Amphibious Ready Group. Several days ago we sent another 2,500 Marines.Are they about to take Kharg Island? Will they be deployed in a movement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz?And of course, even while Mr. Trump ordered a temporary cease-fire on the Iranian power plants, our mighty military has been heavily bombing Iranian military targets. Without stopping.And then score another one for the IDF for taking out the senior leader of the IRGC navy.So while Messrs. Witkoff and Kushner, and more lately Mr. Vance, are engaged in some kind of direct or indirect negotiation with Iran, our military remains locked and loaded, and the Pentagon is gearing up for a possible final push.As everyone was watching today’s televised cabinet meeting, the broad S&P 500 stock market fell 1.5 percent and oil prices jumped 5 percent. Seems like war signals from investors and markets.Mr. Trump still wants his negotiators to search for a deal and believes that Iran’s letting 10 oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz is a good faith present to the U.S.Meanwhile — Mr. Witkoff reminded the Cabinet today of the collapse of the last set of Iranian negotiations: “Throughout our meetings with the Iranians, we heard the following from them,” he said. The Iranians claimed “the inalienable right to enrich.” Then, Mr. Witkoff added, “we heard they possessed enough 60 percent enriched material, 460 kilograms, to make 11 atomic bombs.” He concluded: “Jared and I both agreed that the Iranians were there to buy time until a weaker president arrived. This was a flawed strategy.”And Mr. Witkoff warned that Iran better not miscalculate again. Meanwhile Iranians and their so-called five conditions to end the war don’t mention enriched uranium, but they have ludicrous demands of war reparations, a sovereign right over the Strait of Hormuz, and for all American troops to leave the Middle East. Ridiculous. This will not happen.The American 15 points which Mr. Trump acknowledged today, are very tough on Uranium enrichment, and the dismantling of all the nuclear sites, and the end to proxy terrorist groups.Yet there’s some ambiguity about Iranian missiles, which I think should be completely destroyed. Frankly, I wouldn’t allow Iran to have a bow and arrow.But General Jack Keane makes a very good point. Whether it’s finding and taking all the enriched uranium, or reopening Hormuz, or bombing Kharg Island, or frankly all of the 15 conditions, General Keane points out that the American military can achieve every one of those on their own, without any deals with Iran.It’s an interesting and important point.For my part, I really liked hearing Mr. Trump talk about unconditional surrender a few weeks ago.So one way or another, Secretary of State Marco Rubio is right when he said today quote “the results are going to bear fruit for the world. The world is going to be a safer and a better place. When President Trump’s mission here is achieved.” Wonderful thought.From Mr. Kudlow’s broadcast on Fox Business Network.
